“I did history at Cambridge Polytechnic"
My Story: I was taught to cook by my Italian grandmother. After taking a history degree at Cambridge Polytechnic, I worked in a number of small family-run restaurants before joining Midsummer House in Cambridge as a waiter. Here I "blagged" my way into the kitchen, where I learnt on the job. I did a one day trial at Gordon Ramsay's first restaurant "Aubergine." I worked six days a week alongside Ramsay for longer than the two weeks. I then worked in a couple of places before helping with the launch of Gordon Ramsay's Verre in Dubai. I won a couple of awards for best newcomer and best new restaurant as well as an MBE for the service to the industry. I then made my first television appearance in ITVs Hell’s Kitchen. I now oversee two restaurants that I have opened in London as well as making regular appearances as a guest chef on ITV’s This Morning.
